Understanding the Transcom Dropcatch System: A Quick Guide

What is Domain Dropcatching?

Domain dropcatching is the automated process of registering expired domain names the instant they become available again. When a domain registration expires and isn't renewed, it goes through a deletion cycle before becoming available for registration. The Transcom Dropcatch system monitors these domains and attempts to register them at the precise microsecond they become available.

How the Transcom System Works

The Transcom Dropcatch platform operates through a sophisticated multi-tier architecture designed to give you the best chance of catching premium .UK domains:

Real-Time Queue Management

When you submit domains to the system, they enter the Current Queue. The system displays critical information including:

- Domain name - The domain you're attempting to catch

- TAG status - Shows the current registrar (updated via RDAP cache)

- Drop time - Precise timestamp when the domain becomes available

- Mode - The catch strategy you've selected

Three Catch Modes

The system offers three distinct catching strategies, each applying different resources and pricing:

Single Mode (£50) - Concentrates maximum resources on a single registration attempt. This mode is ideal for high-value domains where you want the absolute best chance of success. The system uses optimal timing and dedicated connections.

Multi Mode (£25) - Balances resources across multiple simultaneous attempts. This provides good coverage while being more cost-effective for domains with moderate competition.

Fast Mode (£10) - Lightweight catching approach suitable for domains with lower competition or when you're submitting many domains and want to minimize costs per attempt.

Advanced Timing System

The Transcom engine uses microsecond-precision timing to maximize success rates. The "Next Drop" card on your dashboard shows the upcoming domain with countdown timers.

The Registration Burst

When a domain's drop time arrives, the system fires a "burst" of registration attempts. For example, with a write burst of 10 and 400 microsecond spacing, the system sends 10 rapid-fire registration commands spread across just 3.6 milliseconds.

User Levels and Capabilities

The system offers different access levels to suit various needs:

User Level (Free) - Pay only when you successfully catch a domain. No monthly fees, no commitment. Perfect for occasional dropcatchers.

TAG Level (£89/month) - Use your own Nominet IPS TAG. All billing is direct with Nominet through your web manager.

Server Level (£149/month) - Complete control with your own isolated server instance. Adjust catch parameters and use your own TAG with full administrative access.
